The Phantom of the Opera Theatre Tickets Theatre Review

Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Haymarket, is now in its 26th year.  Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stunning romantic and tragic musical is a must for the discerning theatregoers.

The Phantom of the Opera has been a mainstay in the London West End since it opened in October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the lead roles and crowds still come flocking to see it their droves.

Now starring Peter Joback and Sofia Escobar as the Phantom and Christine, it tells the tale of young woman dreaming of making it as a signer at a Paris Opera Theatre.

Before Christine's father dies, he tells her that she will be looked after by an angel of music. As she gets older she begins to hear a voice which encourages her to push forwards with her singing hopes.

After securing the lead singing role in play, she discovers that the voice is not an angel but in fact comes from the Phantom, a man disfigured in a fire who lives under the theatre.

Madly in love with her, the Phantom uses his influence to make sure that Christine obtains more starring roles but when she becomes engaged to Raoul the Phantom is overcome with rage.

What plays out is a story of lost love, lust and jealousy with an unforgettable ending.

Cast of Phantom of the Opera:

  • Marcus Lovett as The Phantom
  • Sofia Escobar as Christine
  • Simon Thomas as Raoul

On occasion Anna O'Bryne will play the role as Christine.

Phantom of the Opera music is performed by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
